At the Gymnasium Casimirianum, four modern European languages are taught and numerous well-established international contacts are very important for the school. That is the reason why teaching languages was one of our focuses of the Eramus+ project. Due to the fact that the Casimirianum is one of the first so-called media schools (Medienreferenzschule) in Bavaria, our second focus was on modern technology in the classroom. In some of the teacher training courses these two aspects were combined, so for example in courses such as "Empowering ICT skills" in Malta or "Faciliter l'enseignement du francais grâce aux outils numériques" in Vichy.
All in all, 20 mobilities were carried out: seven job shadowing activities at our partner schools in Spain, Italy, Sweden, Luxembourg, Belgium and Scotland and at a Greek school. Furthermore, our colleagues took part in different teacher training courses and congresses abroad.
The job shadowing activities at our European partner schools contributed to the consolidation of the already existing contacts. The mobility and the commitment of the colleagues abroad provided a great insight into the school system of other European countries. With the help of the questionnaire that we had developed the participating colleagues could ask the same questions at every school and thus gather the information that is of interest to our own school development plan.
The teacher training courses focusing on language and didactics or on the use of modern technology were considered to be very good and useful for their teaching - without exception.
The participating teachers serve as examples for our students by establishing and maintaining international relations and by raising their awareness for multilingualism, intercultural competence and life-long learning, which is very important for the Europe of the future.
