SCHOOL UNDER OAKS

"SCHOOL UNDER OAKS" is an one-year project implemented by the Commune of Dąbrowa. The project consists of two activities carried out by volunteer at local school.The aim of the project is to enable young people to improve their competences through non-formal education, increase awareness of other cultures, improve foreign language skills, promote social activity and volunteering, raising awareness of EU projects and opportunities offered by EU programmes, increasing the profile of non-formal education and building a network of international contacts.The selection criterion for recruitment was the motivation of young people and the desire to acquire specific skills and experience. A volunteer from Turkey is 20 years old and she is a student of English Language Teaching. Under the project a volunteer will work in different departments of the School Complex in Dabrowa - in kindergarten, primary school and secondary school. This division of activities diversifies the work of volunteers and will enable gaining experience of working with young people in different age groups. For the host organization it will be a way to allow participation in the project of larger group of students.The project provides a number of interesting tasks: assisting in various activities, planning and organization of workshops proposed by volunteer, promotion of EVS and dissemination of project results.Volunteers will also be involved in the organization of other international projects, youth exchanges, meetings of twinning partners. Every day they will be writing an online project diary.High level of learning will be ensured by use of different educational methods, mainly practical work as well as individual work, teamwork, work in large groups, assisting in the conducting classes, discussions, work with modern technologies, methods of creative problem solving and, mainly, teaching others.The project will contribute to increasing the employability of young people by improving their competence. Volunteers will gain skills and experience that will help them to find a job in the future. The project will help to gain new experience and develop the key competencies by all staff engaged in project implementation and community members. The rank of non-formal education and recognition of European certifications will raise.The activities will promote an attitude of tolerance and respect for other cultures. The project will increase knowledge of foreign languages - volunteer will learn Polish language and persons cooperating with the volunteer will improve the ability to communicate in a foreign language. In addition, volunteer work will encourage others to social participation. The project will contribute to the growth of knowledge on EU programmes and help participants to build a network of international contacts, so that the people involved in the project feel part of the international community of the European Union. Implementation of EVS project undoubtedly opens the Commune of Dabrowa for European culture and and contributes to the implementation of further international projects by the School in Dabrowa.
