SAND - Spice up old teaching methods, Adding New ones to Develop our school
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Sandbackaskolan needs to change the way we work using the new tools that we have received from our employer Arvidsjaurs kommun. We need to train staff so that they are secure in the transition from an analog to a digital approach. Our project will focus on increasing the use of ICT in teaching. We need to work on more motivational ways and changing our teaching to become more digital, which is one of our goals with the project. We also need to work on increasing motivation for students to study subjects such as mathematics and language. We need to change our teaching methods so that they become more interesting and feel up to date. One of our goals with this project is that we want that more students to leave school with all their grades, and hopefully new teaching methods will help us reach that goal. Our teachers need new ideas as well as concrete tips of teaching methods, something that they will gain from job-shadowing. Sandbackaskolan is located in northern Norrland, which means that cooperation with other schools, to develop peer learning, is difficult. We need a larger network to be able to work on developing the formative assessment and peer learning. We want staff in science subjects and languages should have the opportunity to participate in job-shadowing at a school where they have come further with digital teaching. Sandbackaskolan currently has no international work, despite the fact that our curriculum indicates that it is something that we need to work with. One of our main objectives of this project is that we will develop our internationalisation by the fact that teachers are given the opportunity to meet and network with other European teachers at both courses and through job-shadowing. We want to develop the European dimension and get both staff and students to feel that we are a part of the European Community even though we live far from Bruxelles.
