SAFEMTECH proposal has two main scientific objectives: a) The study of the safety in use of adhesives produced at the company GOGLIO and used in the production of food packaging materials, and b) The development of active and intelligent packaging systems at industrial level. GOGLIO is a multinational company that involves the whole food packaging chain, as they produce adhesives, printing inks, valves and laminates for food packaging. The research group GUIA of the Universidad de Zaragoza (UNIZAR) has a great expertise on the study of adhesives performance in food packaging and their safety in use as well as in the development and study of active and intelligent food packaging materials in which the leader of the group is inventor in four international patents in this area. Therefore the combination of intersectoriality and synergies between the two partners involved in this proposal will lead to the achievement of the proposal objectives. SAFEMTECH has as also other objectives which should be emphasized: a) The transference of knowledge between the partners, which is of great value in this case, as it is compulsory to develop a solution able to be efficient at industrial scale; b) The mutual collaboration at long term which starts with this project, due to the high amount of knowledge that each partner needs from the other one; c) The increase of knowledge and training for personnel involved in the project at GOGLIO and at UNIZAR, which will be of special added value for young researchers and PhD students which will participate in this project. The combination of the ideas, scientific and industrial knowledge and the joint effort from both partners will guaranty the success of this project and will allow to accomplish the planned objectives in the four years extension of the project.
