PROJECT
FINISHED
The overall objective of R.E.N.E. is to strengthen the competitiveness of rural areas through the provision of a platform for exchanging information, experience and know-how on rural problems and solutions to these problems. The network aims to improve the synergy of rural area policies and funding programmes and strengthen the know-how of rural extension institutions responsible for these policies and programmes. Achievements: Since 2003 now about 3564 participants from 87 different regions and countries are transporting project results not only into 184 different institutions with about 50-2000 employees each, but also to the public in their regions. Since 2003 59 events (workshops, trainings, up-date-meetings, study visits, partner meetings and congresses) are the main instrument for up-grading information, exchange of experience, know-how-transfer and training of rural extension-worker/advisors. This current, last reporting period was the most active of all: 8 events with 928 participants. 220 participants took part in the congress in Vilnius, Lithuania which has been organised by our Lithuanian partner in cooperation with a DG-Research/World bank project for evaluation of rural policy implementation influencing structural change in rural areas. This was the most successful moment for transfer of knowledge between extension services and consulting of program making policy of all the RENE project time. Participants from 28 countries and 53 new institutions, including World Bank and western Balkan countries have been involved. A second important event was the first biogaz congress in Amiens, Picardie, France, realised by the French and Lower Saxony Chambers of Agriculture in public-private partnership with 15 innovative SMEs as exhibitors. Together with 300 participants of the congress they created a new standard for transfer of knowledge in combination with marketing of innovative products for rural clients. In the future Picardie will be accepted as pilot region for renewable energy implementation of innovation for French speaking countries. For the first time also FÜAK Bavaria realised a workshop with 60 participants from 8 countries for innovation in agro-tourism. FÜAK intends to create a European centre of Excellency in the future. Our Hungarian partner realised a workshop for innovation in direct sales with 161 participants from 3 different countries. The Hungarian partner now is established as centre of Excellency. Innovation for methodology and marketing was the topic of the Hessian partner's workshop 'How to sell advisory service' with 61 participants from 4 countries. The Leadpartner realised, together with ENMAR, the UN-'day of water', which is a worldwide UN initiative. The workshop was attractive for 16 partners from 7 different regions with a high level of policymakers of Poland, the Netherlands, Lower Saxony, Germany, EU presidency and EU Parliament. To agree on 'qualifications of professionals' for Poland Hungary, Czech Rep., Slowakia and Saxony was the topic of the Saxony workshop in St. Marienthal with 45 participants from 5 countries. All Latvian partners regional head of office (24 participants) took part in the study visit to similar Saxony institutions. The final partner meeting was held in Vilnius, Lithuania end of March 2007 (26 participants), realising an auto-evaluation and a follow-up-strategy for the project
