Routes to empowerment and european citizenship: Developing Urban Culture youth projects
Start date: Sep 1, 2008,
Partners from 12 countries (Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania, Spain, Sweden, UK) will come together at Kulturskolan Stockholm-Farsta (Farstagången 8, Stockholm) from 11 to 14 September 2008 to develop their partnership and future YOUTH applications. All partners bring in experience in empowering young people by means of culture and/or media projects. Some have worked together in various international projects, some are completely new partners. The main objectives are: to exchange the specific knowledge and experience that every partner can bring in to future cooperations, to share good practice methods and concepts, to build an international network and embed the work of the national partners into a European framework, to develop ideas and to make concrete plans for future projects and applications aiming at the empowerment of urban youth, especially young people with migration/minority backgrounds, by means of Urban Culture. Urban Culture with it's different elements from music and dance to art and media has become a integral part of young urban lifestyle in many European countries, it has been adapted well to the cultural roots of the youth as to national cultures. Projects developed at this meeting will aim at constructing a sense of European citizenship rooted in cultural diversity.
