Project "Roots & Wings", Youth Exchange, Gulbene, Latvia.Project duration: 01.02.2016. - 30.09.2016.Activity duration: 02.07.2016. - 10.07.2016. (excluding travel days).Countries: Latvia, Bulgaria, Romania, Lithuania.Participants: 32 youngsters (4 boys, 4 girls from every country, 15-18 years old, have fewer opportunities, mainly geographical, social, economical obstacles); 8 group leaders (3 from every country, because there are minors involved). Total: 40.There will be APV held (4 participants - group leaders).Background: project "Roots & Wings" is based on belief that people will take otherwise when they will accept themselves and will get acquainted with this "strange". Considering EU topicalities it is essential to strengthen consciousness of European Unity and to discover diversity of people living in one society. It is necessary also to understand own personality and national identity, that's why idea for the project has been developed - If we have roots, we can fly!Objective: to promote youngsters' personal development, self-confidence, i.e., creating of knowledge, skills and attitudes in international environment by using non-formal education methods, as well as to increase international cooperation skills of involved organisations.Activities description:1) APV: introduction, agreement about program, financial aspects, discussion about common agreement details etc.2) exchange activity: intercultural learning through dance; introduction, ice-braking, team building activities; outdoor activities; evaluation; workshops about cultural diversity, social inclusion; creative workshops; Tasks of the Day; experience exchange; final event etc.There different non-formal education methods will be used that will ensure learning by doing with group leaders as mentors assistance; English language use; intercultural learning; self-evaluation and conclusions; team building as structured process; promotion of healthy life style etc.Results: tangible as public events during activity and after it in all organisations; mandala coloring book; created Facebook page etc.; and intangible as youngsters', group leaders' competences development.Impact: keeping in mind specifics of the project, most important will be local level impact (development of youngsters' personality, development of family and local community understanding and attitude etc.), however there will be also regional impact (for example, non-formal education promotion in neighbor municipality), national (rural development) and international (promotion of the program, new cooperation network between organisations, European citizenship etc.).Longer time benefits: created active participation attitude, what will help youngsters to be employed and self-confident; developed youngsters' English language skills, what expand their opportunities of further education or cooperation in the Europe and in the World; promoted healthy life style by doing things the person likes; new cooperation network between organisations for implementing of new common projects.
