PROJECT
FINISHED
Project "Researching from the school library to improve the environment" is based on the cooperation and innovation for Good Practices takeover. The project involves 7 educational institutions from different countries (Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Romania, Spain and Turkey) with around 2000 participants, including 200 children with special needs, aged 3-15 and 110 experienced teachers of these seven schools.
The priorities of this Project are:
Developing basic and transversal skills using innovative methods.
Reducing disparities in learning outcomes affecting disadvantaged learners.
High quality learning opportunities
The main objectives are:
1) To use the school libraries as educational stable resources to create environments in which English language can be used in an easier and motivational way.
2) To obtain the improvement of the communicative skills of our students working on ecological issues.
3) To achieve the utilization of the English language as a working language in scope of a multicultural society.
4) To improve our educational practices in order to get better the four basic skills (speaking, reading, listening and writing) in English incorporating them into the Linguistic Project.
This project is addressed to the following topics:
- Energy and resources.
- Teaching and learning of foreign languages.
- Quality Improvement Institutions and/or methods (incl. school development).
We have chosen this subject because we believe that English is one of the most important subjects to teach, because our students must live in a global world. We also think that teaching English cannot be done in an isolated way: it must be related to important subjects in that global world such as ecology. We think as well, that this way of working, sharing good practices from different countries, can lead teachers to improve their professional skills and the ability to introduce a variety of unconventional methods and ways to teach. In adittion to this, Ecology and Library can involve all curriculum subjects and promote the participation of all schools Staff.
Our aim is to achieve the objectives of the Project by cooperating and working actively together with local institutions, teachers, parents, families and children.
The teachers will attend four workshops where they will share good practices and enhance the knowledge about the ecological issues as following:
1. Protected Ecosystems- Italy.
2. Recycling- Romania.
3. Responsible water consumption-Turkey.
4. Renewable Energies-Hungary.
We will also attend to three transnational project meetings in Spain, Croatia and Czech Republic.
New methodological materials for learning/teaching in this area will be innovative and it will encourage the environmental awaraness
The material will be widely disseminated so they are available to the general public and specially to teachers across Europe.
The main activities carried on will be:
- Surveys and questionnaires.
- Little creature creation.
- Presentations by experts.
- Different visits to interesting places related to all the topics.
- World "Important Day" Celebrations.
- Making different manual works. (Terrarium, models, water filter...)
- Dissemination Days.
- Common webpage to upload and download materials .
- Using different ways to evaluate the project results and its impact on the school communities.
With this project we want to offer our students the opportunity of having a qualified education, improving our methods of teaching, sharing good practises, developed by different partners of this project.
Therefore, we are completely sure we will be able to get environmentally responsible citizens who are going to use different formats and ways to get to the information and this will be very useful for the future.
