The general aim of the project is the reduction of production waste and the promotion of the innovative techniques of waste management.The specific objectives of the project are- the compilation, writing of studies in connection how much the idea of cleaner production and industrial ecology are known and spread among SMEs in some of the border counties of Slovakia and Hungary - the creation of plans for innovative industrial symbiotic actions (waste management) for the reduction of production waste among SMEs, - the organization of seminars and conferences in the topic of industrial symbiosis and industrial ecology. Achievements: Industrial production produces huge amounts of waste. This amount can be reduced if companies cooperate in order to use waste as raw material for other processes. In industrial symbiosis, the overall amount of waste can be easily decreased. The aim of this project was the reduction of waste production and the promotion of innovative technologies of waste management via the compilation of existing studies which contain ideas for cleaner production and industrial ecology. The project also aimed to create action plans for innovative industrial symbiotic actions (waste management) to reduce the production of waste among SMEs. The partners organized a series of seminars for SMEs in the field of industrial symbiosis and industrial ecology, including the introduction and promotion of innovative approaches to reduce the amount of raw materials, waste and emissions by industrial symbiosis. The main target groups of the project were representatives of small and medium companies located in the border regions of Slovakia and Hungary.
