Regional Triangle of Weimar (Regional Triangle of..)
Regional Triangle of Weimar
Start date: Dec 31, 2003,
End date: Mar 30, 2007
PROJECT
FINISHED
The project aims to extend and intensify the existing trilateral links between the three Regions. Furthermore, these links can now be developed at regional governmental level, particularly between public/equivalent public entities of the three partner Regions. In this way, increased interregional cooperation will enable the sharing of experience and knowledge to benefit the economic and social development of the three Regions. Achievements: Achievements so far The main objective of the RFO 'Regional Triangle of Weimar' was to strengthen the links and networks between the people and local governments/institutions of the three twinned regions in the thematic areas of industrial restructuring, social policy, and modern administration. The partners started for the information and awareness rising in each of the 3 regions with kick-off Regional Conferences (beginning March 2004) with a total of 262 participants. The result has been about 120 projects ideas, which have been published on the RFO's website. As tool for partner search for these project ideas 3 Thematic Conferences have been realised in March/April 2004 with totally 168 participants. Two calls for sub-projects have been implemented in 2004 and 2005. 15 subprojects have been selected and all finished till 31.12.06. For the 15 sub-projects 6 Information Seminars have been held. The Midterm-Workshop was implemented the 26.8.05 in Lille, which included the presentation of the subprojects and of the results of the midterm evaluation. The Final Conference with the participation of the political representatives, as well as from JTS West and all 15 subprojects was held the 1.12.06 in Katowice. The RFO's webpage www.trireg.net started in March 2004 in four languages. It contains information about the RFO and its activities, about all 15 sub-projects as well as the Newsletter archive. On the strategic level the 3 regions wanted to support as much as possible institutions to cooperate. The result has been that in the RFO 43 institutions have been involved in 15 subprojects. These subprojects dealt among others with restructuring of brown fields, guides for investors, support to incubators, start-ups, and SMEs, innovation networks, labour market policy for specific groups, senior citizens, eGovernment. The subprojects have exchanged trilateral experiences, developed new networks, methods, and approaches and have started or are planning follow-up projects. In some cases these subprojects have been selected, because they should provide knowledge/instruments from NPdC and NRW to Silesia, e.g. incubators, public land operator institutions, new methods like roadmapping or training for civil servants. A majority of the subproject partners have never been partner of a structural funds project or in international projects. Having this in mind, we have seen that they learnt to handle linguistic and intercultural problems in a very good manner. They learnt that the general problems of all three topics in the three regions are similar and that common solutions can be found, but adapted to the national/regional situation. The RFO finished the 31.03.07.
