Caméra au poing, a French non-profit organisation based in Foix, organizes documentary movies workshop with young people. Kino(b) is a young Belgium informal group based in Brussels that organizes Kino workshops (short community movies workshop). Drawing on their experiences, both organisations are sharing at the moment a youth exchange project.
The main goals of the project « Regards sur le monde, Action! » are to allow an intercultural discussion between young Belgium and French participants, to enable the participants elaborating a critical point of view about their social environment and to make the opinion confrontation possible in a democratic way.
The project concerns 20 young participants (10 Belgium, 10 French), guides included. Half part of the total group is composed of less opportunities participants (economics, geographic or cultural difficulties).
The aim of the activity is to develop an intercultural listening, speaking and creating space. This activity has to enable young participants to analyse better what is happening around themselves at different scales (local, national, European, global levels) and has to allow participants to expose their opinions, working towards a democratic community project.
In order to do this, young participants will have to make a movie together, on a topic selected by themselves among which economical, social, environmental, political topic.
The activity will take place during 10 days, during the Foix’s film festival « Résistances », in the festival’s premises. The participants will have a free access to the movies showing. They will have the possibility to enjoy the critical point of view of the movies shown and to talk with film makers presents (Belgium and French movies makers will be there).
Both organisations have a complementary basis for community movies workshop organisation. Popular education methodology will be use to bring young participants tools for stimulate debates, take collectives decisions, resolve conflicts etc.
The expected impacts for the participants are: allow cultural openings, stimulate an active citizen behaviour, learn living and doing together, promote autonomy, acquire enhancing technical competences.
The different communication tools used for the project and the diffusion of the movie making by the participants during the activity will enable us to spread to a large public. The project will allow both organisations to continue their work toward a better and deeper European collaboration. It will allow young participants to reproduce this kind of exchanges that contribute to the European project.
