Reduce Reuse Recycle is a youth exchange project, that will take place from the 1st July - 8th of July 2016 in Portorose, Slovenia. Participants are 20 youth and youth leaders from the Slovenia and Spain. The young participants will be of similar age: 14-18, so that they will easily relate to each other and therefore facilitate each other’s growth-journey. Reasonable gender balance will be ensured, so that we cater for a balanced group which has an approximately equal male to female mix. We structure and plan our activities so that no part of the group is disadvantaged and all participants can join holistically in the experience from a physical, emotional, and cultural standpoint. Each day we will have discussions, interactive activities, workshops (games, culinary workshops, quizzes etc.), as well as doing voluntary work in the community to help improve the local area, through which participants can improve their core skills and help with their personal development.Reduce Reuse Recycle is a philosophy that encourages the redesign of resource life cycles so that all products are reused. No trash is sent to landfills and incinerators. The process recommended is one similar to the way that resources are reused in nature. The internationally recognized definition of Reduce Reuse Recycle is made by the Zero Waste International Alliance (ZWIA):"Zero Waste is a goal that is ethical, economical, efficient and visionary, to guide people in changing their lifestyles and practices to emulate sustainable natural cycles, where all discarded materials are designed to become resources for others to use."The main objectives of the project are:1. To create awareness of the waste problem, learning various ways it is being solved in different countries. To tell youth about the zero waste concept and to get them to know people, who are seeking to live a zero waste life. Through this participants will also learn about the different cultures, similarities and differences that exist between different people.2. To share with young participants the knowledge about sustainable way of living, especially in the long term.3. To help youth realize their potential and open their minds to the great impact they can have on world and help them become active citizens and prepare them for European Citizenship.4. To promote a healthy lifestyle through healthy eating and physical activity - walking, hiking, swimming, going in for sports, yoga and meditation. Our daily schedule has also been designed with this in mind - where outside activities are scheduled daily.5. For youth participants to form formal and non formal partnership between Spain and Slovenia and on European level6. For youth participants to gain new competences and skills and get to know Youth Pass Certificate and Nefiks Certificates that will help youth to become more equiped for job market.7. To create one new Erasmus Plus project for 2016-2016 period as result of partnership through this youth exhcange. Also we would like to share from FFL Global the experience that was gained also through organising No More Food Waste conference with Slovenian Governemnet in January 2016.http://www.kpv.gov.si/nc/si/medijsko_sredisce/novica/article/225/7925/11996ae4e1b4218c8d9b1bf86e65bf53/The long term effect of our project we see as more and more people starting to think about the waste problem and zero waste concept, followed by changes in lifestyle and consumption patterns.Participant parties of the project will inform their partners (local youth organizations, educative institutions, local municipality and other stakeholders) on results and activities of the project, the Erasmus+ funding opportunities and will try to create similar projects with more youth groups involved.
