The 'Redmeis' project aims to establish an association of vocational training bodies, business, social and political authorities. The idea behind this project is to strengthen the development of work-linked training and apprenticeships and improve the effectiveness of employee training. Systematic collaboration will allow business, and local SMEs in particular, to have comprehensive information about the vocational training on offer, and educational centres to make an assessment of real personnel training needs. The project has the following phases:° establishment of a regional unit to administer and market the vocational training range to local SMEs;° creation of regular communication between training provider representatives and business; ° tailoring courses to the specific requirements of SMEs, within accepted formal education frameworks;running pilot courses in each partner's project country and evaluating experiences. The final report will be disseminated through the network. The active participation of social and business partners such as the Confederation of Trade Unions, Chambers of Commerce and Industry is also expected at this stage.
