Red Cross Youth sharing the power of humanity!

First 2 volunteers of Red Cross Youth Flanders will go for 2 months to Uganda from 01/01/2012 – 28/02/2012. The host organisation will be Uganda Red Cross Society. Then 2 volunteers of the Uganda Red Cross Society will go for 2 months to Belgium from 04/07/2012 – 03/09/2012. The host organisation will be Red Cross Youth Belgium – Flanders. The themes of the project are youth leisure and development cooperation.The objectives of the project are: • Promotion of international understanding among young Red Cross volunteers • Getting to know the structure and most important fields of action of URCS or RCYB-F • The volunteers exchange information concerning their own field of actionThe methods applied are: • Informal learning in the activities and leisure time: learning by doing • Non-formal learning in the activities: learning by doing, reading and thinking and by observingThe activities for the Belgian volunteers are: • Organizing sport and play activities for children and young people • To propagate the idea of humlanity and solidarity to the local population • Recruitment of youngsters and blood donors• Organize first aid courses • Provide service to vulnerable groups, especially orphans and vulnerable children• Support at tracing activitiesThe activities for the Ugandan volunteers are:• Creating games and/or projects regarding our 5 areas (first aid, social work, international work, blood transfusions and relief), also for for children in asylum centers • Organizing camps and/or other activities for kids who live in centers for asylum seekers • Be active in a local branch, where the volunteer can organize activities for children and youngsters together with other youth leaders • Giving educational games on children's festivals• Preparation and helping with the organisation of our annual ‘kick off event’ that will take place the first of September • Participating in our training for youth leaders and first aid, and helping with the logistics
