Re-creating Europe: Creativity is fighting racism
Start date: Mar 1, 2013,
The Youth Exchange “Re-creating Europe: Creativity is fighting racism and xenophobia” is an immediate follow-up project of the YE “It's the diversity that counts!” and the YE “Reillustrating Europe: Jokes & cartoons fighting racism and xenophobia” which were realized in 2010 and 2012 in Prijedor, Bosnia-Herzegovina. According to the results of the evaluations gained it is in the interest of promoters and participants to continue working and promoting the themes “fighting against racism and xenophobia” and “promotion of diversity” and intercultural exchange” through creative means. Thus the project will gather young people from South Eastern Europe (SEE) and EU27 in Prijedor, BiH to discuss, to experience and to take own initiative through mostly creative workshops, but also inquiries, meetings and street activities. Within the planned activities the participants will exchange about personal concepts of diversity and inclusion, analyse the dynamics of conflicts, and to discuss possibilities for the promotion of an active commitment against xenophobic and racist tensions as well as to discuss the question of necessary characteristics and abilities for this promotion on local and European level. For that reason the main “tool” for dealing with the issues is “creativity” through the design of art works, as collages and installations by the participants, supported by local artists and the group leaders. Finally the art works created by participants will be exhibited in the city hall of Prijedor. The YE will be realized in Prijedor, the second largest municipality in the Republika Srpska within Bosnia-Herzegovina with participants from neighbouring partner countries and programme countries in the period 18.-28.07.2013.
