According to the last Eurostat data about participation of population in education and training in 2008 only 1.4% of the Bulgarian population aged 25 to 64 participated in such activities, while the average EU-27 was 9.6%. The reasons for the lowest rate for participation of Bulgarian population in learning activities in comparison with the other Member States are various. Some of them are related to the insufficient financial resources, undeveloped information and guidance services, low level of public awareness about the importance of lifelong learning, the ongoing reform process of education and training system, etc. In this respect the current project envisages to conduct wide spread campaign for raising of public awareness about education and training, i.e. by publishing and dissemination of materials presenting latest developments in education and training policy at European and national level, organisation of discussions via round tables at regional level and dissemination of information about the importance and the available opportunities for inclusion in various learning activities in Bulgaria.These actions are in coherence with and will broadly contribute to the implementation of the action plan for the period 2010-2011 under the National Lifelong Learning Strategy (2008-2013). The conducted activities and the outputs of the project will strongly support the achievement of the both nationally recognised LLL priority directions: improving the opportunities for accessibility to lifelong learning and ensuring quality and effectiveness of lifelong learning.The expected impact of the project is related to increased awareness among national stakeholders and social partners at national, regional and local level about the European and national policy priorities and developments in the field of education and training; development of a bottom up and partnership approach for taking forward the national reforms in education and training system and further development of lifelong learning activities; increased opportunities for regional exchange of experience and good practice in the field of LLL.
