The aim of the project is to provide owners and quality managers within SMEs with a set of learning and practice tools for the acquisition of the necessary knowledge and skills on implementing a quality assurance system according to ISO 900:2000 standards.The tools will consist of: a book containing the necessary theory; a multimedia CD-Rom with a presentation of the elements of ISO 900:2000 standards, a database of examples of applications for different sectors and case studies for the practice of quality managers in the compilation of quality manual and procedures and internal audits; evaluation tools in the form of questionnaire and exercises for the assessment of knowledge and skills and a web-site allowing on-line access to project results. All tools will be produced to meet the individual needs of SMEs in relation to both workforce and capital.Other products of the project will be pilot courses addressed to owners and managers of SMEs on the use of the developed tools, on-going evaluation of the project process and results and dissemination of project results done mainly through conferences, press releases and leaflets.As a result of the project it is expected that individual SMEs will be better able to achieve quality and competitiveness through the correct interpretation of the ISO standard of procedure requirements and the cost-effective implementation of ISO 9000.
