Quality Enhancement of mobility using ECVET
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Breiðholt College wants to provide a competitive vocational education for working life and further studies. We work in good co-operation with employers and the labour market. In Iceland we do not always have placements for all our vocational students. International mobility is one of the most important ways of acquiring new competences, knowledge and skills. Learning mobility will give both our students and staff the possibility to widen their horizons and make them stronger in their profession by learning both new skills and and practise old ones and get new experience how things are done in other countries. We are committed to provide our students with necessary competences needed to be able to work in an international enviroment. We aim at increasing the quantity and quality of our international mobilities both for students and staff and will acknowlege to the fullest their work/study abroad. We want to increase transparency and the quality in training between institutions and our partners by starting to use ECVET gradually. We will emphazise qualitity of preparation, effective monitioring during the stay and dissmination and evaluation after the stay. We believe this project will enrich both our students and staff and increase their self esteem and language skills and at the same time they get to know other countries and learn about their cultures. All our vocational students will stay for one month. The Icelandic work council has agreed to fully value our students work abroad as a part of their vocational training if they stay for at least one month. Our goal is to transfer knowledge and increase the abilities and competence of our staff who play an important part in the vocational education in Iceland. By international mobiltiy they will strenghten their cooperation and network between schools and employers in Europe. We are the largest community college in Iceland with the most diverse student population of the country, in terms of ethnicity, economical background, and age. We consider it an important opportunity for our students to be able to participate in international projects. Not only do we believe that the project will enhance our staff professional skills but also contribute to their personal development. This project provides Breidholt College with the opportunity to share the expertise and knowledge that the school has developed since its establishment. The quality of renewing our co-operation between our former partners vill increase the quality of our work together as we now know each other much better. One new partner has been added Tartu Kutsehariduskeskus a Vocational Education Center that has a great experience of mobitliy and EU prjocets. We want to better the quality of the exchange and increase the volume of mobility at our school as we believe that will develop our students and make them more mature and encourage them to learn and practise more foreign languages. One of the reasons we are working so closely with Pärnu in Estonia with our beauty dept. is that in Pärnu and Estonia have very good professional Spas treatments that we want to learn from. We have also had a very good relationship with the very experienced partners of ours in Belgium. Our aim is to give as many vocational students as possible the chance to go abroad on work-placements and have it included in their profile and their Europass CV. It will definitely improve the quality of their education. We will be sending 20 students and 8 accompanying persons and 16 teachers in this project.
