Racism against Roma ("Antigypsyism"), is a widespread phenomenon in Europe, which has existed for centuries but which has not been questioned or treated at the institutional level. This antigypsyism leads to violent attacks, agitation and hate speech in the media, as well as an increase in social exclusion. In some countries, the necessary measures against this form of racism have been taken, but there is little transnational exchange and few transnational activities. Antigypsyism has to start being treat as a concept and form of racism urgently as it is on a boom. Also because it has already been recognized by the European Parliament through Resolution 2015/2615 (RSP) International Roma Day -, antigypsyism in Europe and EU recognition of the memorial day of the Roma Genocide. For this reason, FAGIC and its partners are organizing the "PUTREN LE JAKHA: Open your eyes to Antigypsyism!” project which will be held in Barcelona from 9 November to 15 November 2015. (For preparation, there will be a meeting with a representative from each organization from 4 to 6 September). About 40 young activists, mostly Roma, between the ages of 18 and 30, will be encouraged in their commitment against racism and discrimination and will exchange and discuss their ideas, initiatives, activities and questions regarding this topic. The objectives are to foster activists in relation to their knowledge, their skills and joint action against racism. They will have the opportunity to learn from each other and from young experts, how racism can be given in various areas and the possibilities to increase awareness of the issue. The project PUTREN LE JAKHA get the participants to improve their knowledge of antigypsyism, know many different projects and initiatives to combat it, know and learn how to use different methods and educational materials on the subject and know how to use art forms to address the topic. They will be motivated to maintain their commitment and gain skills to carry out their new skills and experiences in their organizations and in their environment and neighbourhood. Therefore, not only participants will have the right to know about the subject, but also their organizations and neighborhoods. Due to its important role as multipliers, they will ensure that the fight against "antigypsyism" in Europe will remain active. Antigypsyism is open to the public at local, regional and national level through the press conference and public events.
