Promoting European Values in Armenia

There will be one male EVS-volunteer in this project, supporting the Armenian UN Association (AUNA) in their daily work. He will stay 7 months in the capital of Armenia, Yerevan.
AUNA mainly conducts activities in Armenia, but they also implement projects on South Caucasus Regional level and usually they have several exchange projects with the UN Association of Georgia during which mutual study visits, seminars and conferences are organized with involvement of youth from South Caucasus.
The EVS volunteer will be a part of AUNA Youth Division (YD) and will help the head of YD to coordinate and conduct different youth-oriented initiatives and activities. Depending on different projects the number of staff may grow, however EVS volunteer can also contribute to the staff with daily work in administration, coordination of different events, project development and management. From time to time AUNA provides capacity building trainings for its staff and volunteer, YD members, thus the EVS volunteer will be involved as well and will have an opportunity to acquire new knowledge and skills and contribute even more effectively.
Through this project we are aiming at promoting European values, European citizenship and practices in Armenia, with the strong emphasis on EU perspectives on Human Rights, Peace and Security issues.
The role of EVS volunteer will be assisting the receiving organisation in its activities and projects which have been implemented since the establishment of the organization in 2005, and the volunteer will give to these activities refreshment, Intercultural and European dimension, and creativity and new ideas.
The activities will be the following:
- General involvement in the work of the organization. Liaising with head of AUNA Youth Division and members, developing materials and assisting in administrative work and planning and developing of media and communication mechanism on projects.
- Thematic discussions of European Club. Conducting trainings, seminars and other events within the previously established European club. The European Club serves a best place to promote the dissemination of European values, as well as taking youth-oriented initiatives. The volunteer will also manage the European Club's Facebook and Twitter accounts, conducting other task related activities.
- Other activities initiated by the volunteer, on the program related topics.
The participant will acquire knowledge on:
- UN, its bodies, structures, goals,
- European bodies, their missions and tasks,
- Working with International Organizations,
- Peer to peer education,
- Informal Learning,
- Project Development & Fundraising,
- Project Management & Implementation,
- Campaigning,
- Networking.
He will improve his planning, logistical and organizational skills. In his activities he will strengthen the tolerance and acceptance of different cultures and people, identify, promote and share the transnational values. He will become more self confident and independent.
We hope to foster volunteer culture in Armenia, bring fresh ideas and new practices to AUNA's great work, to assist to inter-cultural dialogue for the target youth. On the other hand the European club conducted by the participant will be a source of dialogue and an axis of European values and will have a great long-term impact for the Armenian youth.
