The Private Gymnasium in Sibenik is a new, ambitious school which wants to raise its quality scale. The school is full of mostly young teachers, insufficiently experienced. The main objectives of this Project of staff mobility are the policy for the school improvement and foremost the responsibility of the school in terms of providing the best possible education for our students.
The school's priorities are to raise standards in literacy, numeracy, ICT and quality of pupil's learning . By the Self-evalution we determined the areas where current levels of class perfomances need to be maintained: luck of use of interactive methods and techniques in the classrooms, implementation of CLIL teaching and management competencies.
The context in which the school is working is economic crisis and without the financial support it wouldn't be possible.
We defined that in two years period ten teachers and school leadership should participate in educational mobilities. Six of them go to Staff training abroad and four to Training assignments abroad.
Staff training abroad covers: Language Courses, CLIL, Interactive methods and techniques in teaching and Improvement of the School Curriculum.
Training assignments abroad means that the school leadership and some teachers go for a job shadowing to the partner school.
All mobilities last from 7 to 15 days.
As mentioned above, the Self-evalution was the methodology used in the Preparatory phase. In the phase of Implementation we will use presentations, workshops and dissemination to educate other teachers in the school and wider.
In the Follow-up phase we will use the higher levels of perfomances we gained. So, we except from:
- School leadership that the School Curriculum as an strategic developmental document be one of the best ones and also many articulated and designed projects.
- Language teachers should develop their oral fluency and other language competences and set up partnerships
- Subject teachers who will be teaching in English as the language of the classroom (CLIL) to bring the practical ideas and knowledge to do it
- Other teachers who will be educated in using the interactive techniques for the classroom to use those methods more often instead of traditional teaching.
Note, the headmaster will participate in two mobilities. There are two reasons. First headmaster need to educate himself in creating a new School Curriculum document. Than two weeks training in the partners school with the very good leadership is also very valuable for the school.
The longer term benefits in the first place will be school improvement, the school will gain more European profile, participating teachers will become more interculturally aware.
We plan to become a great school.
