I. Analysis of the initial situation - the context of the project The project involves the students of Zespół Szkół Mechanicznych in Rzeszów (The Mechanical Schools Complex) in overseas vocational training and the ZSM teachers in teachers experience exchange. The target group is composed of students acquiring education in the following professions: Aircraft Maintenance Technician, Avionics Technician and Hairstyling Technician. The school educates qualified employees who constitute skilled staff of aerospace companies, aircraft maintenance organisations, as well as, hair salons. The school has been collaborating with potential employers in adapting its educational offer to the changing needs of the labor market. Vocational training abroad will complement the practical training conducted within the core curriculum at Zespół Szkół Mechanicznych in Rzeszów and raise the quality of vocational education provided by the school. II. Defining the problem In the course of learning students gain basic vocational knowledge. In order to get an attractive job learners should participate in numerous vocational traineeships. Professional skills and experience attested by relevant certificates are expected by potential employers. III.Objectives of the project 1 Main objective: To increase professional competence among 60 students and 14 teachers of Zespół Szkół Mechanicznych in Rzeszów through overseas vocational training and teachers experience exchange. 2 Specific objectives: 2.1 Avionics and Aircraft Maintenance Technicians will learn the organization of work of Portugese aircraft maintenance institutions on the premises of Lisbon airport. Learners are going to receive certificates confirming their completion of a160-hour aircraft maintenance training. 2.2 Hairstyling Technicians will master the skills of designing and doing hairstyles, cutting, styling and coloring hair, as well as organizing the work at hairdressing salons and managing a hair salon. 2.3 Teachers will become familiar with the organization of work at different types of Spanish vocational schools. They will have opportunity to actively participate in the teaching-learning process as they observe lessons and teach at Spanish Schools. IV. The results of the project - each student will receive a 160-hour vocational training - vocational training programmes - starting and continuing cooperation with foreign companies - 60 students will receive certificates (Europass Mobility) - European integration - students’ employability will increase V. The number and profile of participants 60 students and 14 teachers of Zespół Szkół Mechanicznych in Rzeszów will participate in the project. They will be students in grades 3 and 4 from a four-year vocational secondary school in avionics and hairdressing professions. Students at this stage of education have sufficient competence to successfully take part in this type of training. The number of participants was determined by analyzing the number of students belonging to the target group. These are students who are currently first, second and third-year students. VI. Description of activities The project involves the departure of four groups composed of 15 students. Two out of the four groups will receive vocational training at Lisbon airport (Portugal) and the other groups at hair salons in Berlin (Germany). Moreover, two groups of 7 teachers will go to Valencia (Spain) as part of the teachers experience exchange. The activities will take place in different types of schools. Description of activities: - Cooperation with foreign partners - Signing agreements with foreign partners - Sharing information about the project - Recruitment of participants - Preparing the participants - Signing proper agreements with the participants - Organization of travel - Providing insurance, board and lodging - Implementation of traineeships in accordance with the programme and schedule - Preparation and issuing of certificates - Monitoring and evaluation VII. Methodology of the project The Project Management Cycle is accompanied by a method based on the standard procedures for handling the project which include the following elements: analysis of the initial situation, identification of the problem, objectives, results, products, operations (methods, staff), schedule, budget, monitoring, evaluation and promotion. VIII. Sustainability of results - long-term benefits Skills and experience gained by the participants evidenced by certificates will increase their attractiveness to the local and European labor market throughout their careers. The experience gained by teachers will improve the quality of education provided by Zespół Szkół Mechanicznych in Rzeszów. The added value of the project will be raising the school's prestige in the community, students' increased interest in vocational education and higher motivation for learning, as well as, teachers’ greater interest in self-improvement.
