PROJECT
FINISHED
The project "Praktikutbyte Naturbruk Sverige/Frankrike" is a collaboration between the swedish school Ösby, Västmanlands Natural Resource Use upper secondary school, and the two french schools Les Sardières (Rhône-Alpes) and Les Lycée de Carmaux (Midi-Pyréenes).
Ösby has the intention to ameliorate skills and qualifications among their students in the areas of Natural Resource Use by giving them the opportunity to accomplish a part of their trainee period outside Sweden in appropriate rural districts such as in the south of France (north of Toulouse) and respectvely in the east (north of Lyon).
The participant will, through practicing, encounter in their vocational areas, new techniques as well as new methods and working environment in a different culture and consequently train flexibility and adaptability to new situations and places, thus increasing their possibilities for future employment and training them to be open-minded to other cultures. The participating students study in the agriculture,- equestrian- and animal care programs.
The trainee period will take place during three weeks; in the autumn weeks 38, 39 and 40, both 2014 and 2015 and in the spring, the weeks 17, 18 and 19, both in 2015 and 2016, in the two regions of France. It will thus be a suitable combination to their ordinary periods in Sweden.
English will be used as means of communication; none of the participants have english as their mother tongue, which is a point itself. Swedish and french might be used in combination with body language if necessary. The swedish students will live in hostfamilies and they will be placed in companies which have been recruited in different ways, all of them being connected to our partner schools.
The participants, with the total number of 32, will be some from the second - and some from the third year - students.
There is a great demand of labour supply, apt for moving, taking in new techniques and accepting cultural differences in the natural resource area. The fact that students are given the possibility of working periods abroad can also be taken into account as an advantage for Ösby on recruiting students.
The participants in the project will be able to use their trainee experience abroad in their CV´s when applying for employment which might enable them to get the job.
