Aalborg Business College (ABC) has internationalisation as an important strategic area for the period 2012-2017. The college wants our commercial vocational students both basic and apprentices and our staff members to enhance their personal and skilled qualifications thus making all groups open and ready for job opportunies on the European labour market.
ABC has been through a big quality ensurance program during the last years where we have had focus on the international dimension. We want future students to find the commercial VET-jobs more attractive which we'll do through our increased focus on internationalisation. We believe that through this we'll also enhance the students' and staff members' geografical, mental, language and intercultural mobility.
ABC will be sending organisation and the students that we'll send in work placements in Ireland, Germany, Great Britain and Malta will all be commercial VET-students either basic or apprentices in the areas of retail, wholesale or administration. We wish to send 174 basic commercial VET-students, 16 accompanying teachers and 20 apprentices in work placements in the mentioned countries plus 10 staff members.
The basic commercial VET-students can be in either 3 week work placements in a shop, wholesale or office or in a combined stay where 1-2 weeks will be a study program and the following 1-2 weeks will be awork placement as a follow-up to the study program. We have chosen to cooperate with internship agents in the different countries who through our quality system find suitable work placement companies, colleges and accomodation. The agents must ensure that the students are taken care of before, during and after the work placements and also monitor the companies and the students during the stay.
We expect the following:
Aalborg Business College (ABC) : a further international dimension in the commercial VET-educations for both students and staff members, to expand our international contacts, to open the eyes of our students for job opportunies on the European labour market, to have more commercial VET-students as piu-students in a foreign country.
The work placement companies: that they'll achieve closer ties to Denmark and gain an insight in cultural and organisational differences.
The students: will be encouraged to be become PIU-students and also achieve language competences, mental, intercultural and geographical mobility
The staff members: To prepare them for jobswops abroad, to enhance their interest in internationalisation, to give them intercultural competences, new knowledge and language competences..
