Our middle school is located in the western suburbs of Paris and caters for close to 450 students. It hosts a diverse population , composed mainly of children from disadvantaged backgrounds and with persistent difficulties in learning. It belongs to the R.E.P. or the Priority Education Network as it is located within a violence-prevention area. Nevertheless , our school has always sought to maintain social diversity and the recruitment of high achieving students continued until now.Our goal is to preserve this diversity and to keep offering a flexible and adapted education. To do so, we need diverse and innovative educational tools to adapt our teaching to different profiles .Our team of English teachers has less than two years and we still need to build a common project. The seminar will thus be an opportunity to ask ourselves about our goals, to find a common working basis by taking advantage of new educational approaches, new technological tools and to initiate an opening on Europe using the e -twinning programme. The seminar will be the perfect ground for finding future European partners. This seminar organized by LFEE Immersions will take place in Edinburgh and shall help us enhance our educational expertise , by providing us with innovative ideas and materials on how to use of authentic documents, ICT and varied media, available to children today. The seminar will also devote time to cultural visits and informal exchanges conducive to future partnership projects .The success of this seminar will depend on individual involvement. However, we can lay the groundwork to take full advantage of the seminar and to assess its impact :1 -The keeping of a log book and a file to collect all the materials made available to us 2- Individual assessment reports at the end of the seminar3 - Presentation of the European portfolio of languages at the beginning of September 2016 by the project lead4 - Registration and participation in e -twinning courses and the beginning of the project with the use of the website5 - Taking stock in June 2017 :a- Have we progressed in our practices ? (adoption of the target language in our classes, increased motivation among children, higher performance)b- Has our goal of European integration been achieved ? (adoption of the portfolio, adoption of European reference levels for self-assessment, will the e -twinning project be renewed? )In this way, we hope to contribute to the continued success of our school by demonstrating our ability to work as a team and our capacity to show dynamism, adaptability and efficiency. Ultimately, we hope that our opening up to Europe will also help give shape and meaning to learning a foreign language, anchored in a European dimension.
