‘How to stimulate development of students by increasing potential of their teachers.’When defying the project it is important to focus on the specific nature of the high school in Żabno. 70% of students attending the school is the youth coming from rural area, struggling with poverty and facing the problem of unemployment. Their difficult background does not have a positive impact on their development or opportunities for career progression. A great majority of the students do not take the matura exam or complete their full higher secondary education. The school gives them general educational background and provides them with vocational qualifications.This specific project is a proof of a growing need that can be observed among the teachers of the school. It shows their desire to improve and update their qualifications by learning and implementing innovative teaching methods that they hope to learn throughout this programme. This initiative will have an influence over six teachers from Żabno devoted to different fields of studies. The group includes: 2 Polish language teachers, a French teacher, a History and Social Studies teacher, a headmaster and a vocational advisor. The main goal of the project can be defined as an increase of potential and abilities of the teachers. This can be achieved by: acquiring skills and gaining fluency in English and German, learning about new teaching techniques and interactive teaching methods, opening to European Union countries’ diversity and their cultures, starting an international cultural exchange that will increase mobility of both students and teachers of the school, building long-term relations and improving the quality and efficiency of the work of the school.Increasing these abilities will benefit in employing highly educated teachers conscious about innovative techniques and teaching methods. Changes in these teachers’ performance will have direct influence over quality of teaching thus resulting in the improvement of students’ performance. Knowledge and experience gained through the project will find their reflection on the accomplishments of the students which hopefully will allow them to complete their education with higher marks and wider perspective on the world.
