Zespół Szkół (Vocational Technical School ) in Szczurowa is a small school located in a rural area with high unemployment rate. So far, our school has taken part in the project Modernisation of vocational education and training in Małopolska. The project that is a subject of the application assumes organising internship for 16 students from the school in Szczurowa. The participants are students of 2nd and 3rd grade of Technical School of Tourism. According to curriculum, the duration of the internship is 4 weeks /20 working days. It will take place in hotels and restaurants selected by the partner. The students’ participation in the project will result in achieving the curriculum effects.Major project goals include:- extension of the school educational offer- verification and making use of theoretical knowledge and obtained skills-gaining organisational skills and ability to work in a team-improvement of German language skills-getting to know different new forms of employment and management- finding out about tradition, culture and monuments of Austria- opportunity of face -to- face conversation with Austrian people- learning self-reliance and responsibility, developing the ability to make independent decisions. It is our aim to prepare young people for adulthood and work so that they would feel self-confident, regardless of future working and dwelling place. To achieve this goal, the students need to have a good theoretical knowledge, but the most crucial are practical skills which can be developed while working on specific positions in well-equipped hotels and restaurants offering a wide range of services. In our neighbourhood there are few firms meeting these criteria, therefore sending the students abroad is the only solution to offer them a high quality training. On the other hand, our application for student internship abroad may extend the school educational offer and result in making the school more competitive. During the internship the students will learn about organisation of work in Austria and will test the skills obtained in educational process. A very significant aspect is also use of German in everyday communication, especially in customer service. Our students will have the opportunity to learn about different culture and cooperate with foreign employers. The programme reflects our current development needs. Active participation, good trainings, auto-presentation, observing model classes and modern technologies enhancing learning processes will all positively affect the knowledge and abilities of the project participants. The project is not only to maintain and develop vocational skills, but also personal skills, to help overcome the fear of new situations, to develop entrepreneurship and to show new areas of professional mobility development. In our region there is high unemployment rate among graduates, thus implementation of programmes which could improve the situation would be very helpful. Experiences gained during the internship will make our students more competitive on the local and European job market, this way the region will be promoted. Gaining experience and self-reliance will help students to make independent decisions, which might be useful when starting business activity. The project assumes internship for one group which is to leave in September 2016. The students will be supervised by 2 teachers of ZS in Szczurowa – a teacher of German and a teacher of vocational subjects. The project participants will take part in a language and cultural preparation before leaving, and during their stay in the host country they will improve the skills, especially vocational language skills. The programme of internship is based on the curriculum and was approved by both parties. The basic responsibilities of the sending institution are: popularising the information concerning the scope and organisation of the project among the candidates, parents and environment, participant recruiting, organisational, language and cultural preparations, teacher supervision and monitoring, preparing Europass Mobility, settlement, evaluation and popularising of the project at school and in the environment. The hosting institution guarantees internship positions, food and accommodation, public transport fares, help in organising free-time activities, project participation certificates and internship supervision. Both parties will communicate through the Internet and telephone. The project implementation will be in accordance with the plan and schedule. Appointed people, especially the coordinator will be responsible for specific tasks. All the activities must be accepted by the school principal.
