The overall objective is the development of tourism potential in the cross-border regions Maramures and Transcarpathia in order to increase the contribution of tourism sector to the economic development of the adjacent border area of Romania and Ukraine. The specific objectives are: (1) Diversification of the existing range of tourism services by creating a scientific tourism product: pl@NETour through an improved infrastructure of Baia Mare Planetarium and Uzhgorod University, Laboratory of Space Research in order to promote and capitalize the tourism potential of the cross-border regions Maramures and Transcarpathia (2) Intensifying the economic and social cooperation by creating a partnership network to facilitate transfer of best practices in the scientific tourism field. (3)Stimulation of tourists and large public interest for astronomy (4) Developing non formal education activities for students in a multi-linguistic frame. Expected Results: The estimated results for each activity are: 1 planetarium equipped with high-quality optical-mechanical projector in Baia Mare Planetarium; 1 high quality digital planetarium projector and 1 portable planetarium dome purchased and set up at the Space Research Laboratory of Uzhgorod University; 10 astronomical observational spots identified 5/ region; 1 map indicating astronomical observation spots - GPS coordination, at least 2000 A3 color copies of map with 10 ( 5/region) free of light pollution astronomical observational spots; 1 functional on-line network promoting scientific tourism in cross-border regions; endowment with 4 on-line equipments (PC, video projectors and screen) / partner and IT&C equipments or LP (1 color copy equipment A3 and 1 personal computers). 1 workshop on Observation in Uzhgorod ; 1 workshop on Planetarium shows in Baia Mare; 3on-line workshops ( 1 on Observation, 1on Planetarium Presentations; 1on light and space pollution; 1 presentation on light and space pollution). 6 persons trained in networking and planetary equipments usage. 1 scientific tourism product developed pl@NETour consisting of 4 Astronomical observations in pl@NETour centers : 2 in Baia Mare, 2 in Uzhgorod; 6 participants local partners, 1 participant from associated partner/ region; 5 tourism agencies, 5 accommodation facilities owners/ region; 10 students and 10 teachers / region; 4 attendance sheets; 30 filled questionnaires /region. 4 Outside astronomical observations in identified spots: 2 in Maramures, 2 in Transcarpathia; 6 participants local partners, 1 participant from associated partner/ region; 5 tourism agencies , 5 accommodation facilities owners / region;10 students and 10 teachers / region; 4 attendance sheets; 30 filled questionnaires /region. 4 Planetarium presentations: 2 in Baia Mare, 2 in Uzhgorod; 6 participants local partners, 1 participant of associated partner/region; 5 tourism agencies, 5 accommodation facilities owners/region; 10 students, 10 teachers/region; 4 attendance sheets; 30 filled questionnaires /region. 1 book on Sky reading edited in RO/ENG/UA languages; 500 copies printed; 1 Sky reading book material posted on website. 2 press-conferences; 2.000 multilingual pl@NETour brochures; 2000 sky map with short guidelines for sky reading; 1 multilingual web-site of the project; 1 project blog feed backs; 2 roll-ups; 300 presentation folders;500 CD with presentation of pl@NETour scientific tourism product; 2 pl@NETour applications one for IPhones and the other for Android type terminal.; 1 final conference
