The objective of the EVS project 'Philanthropy is the answer' is to have a Romanian volunteer work for the Profilantrop Association in the Filantrópia Charity Shop. Both implementing organizations are committed to environmental issues and sustainable development. The wider goal of the project is to propagate the ideas of social and environmental sustainability and social responsibility in European countries by raising awareness and improving knowledge in connection with these topics among youth. The volunteer involved in this project will work with the local community related to the Filantrópia Charity Shop and community space, organize workshops and presentations for the local youth. The project supports and strengthens creativity and personal initiatives as there is a room for the volunteer to initiate and design workshops based on his/her own preferences and ideas connected to the project topics. During the volunteer service the participant widens his/her perspective by getting familiar with the operation of social enterprises such as charity shops and by learning about local community development, creative and useful recycling and upcycling practices, environmental issues. The competencies of the volunteer will develop during non-formal learning methodology, he/she will learn about the principles, operation, programs of the European Union, about the Hungarian culture and language while developing soft skills like communication and interpersonal relations. We are planning a long term strategic cooperation with the Green Sun Association, if this project will be successful, we will have further volunteer and youth exchange projects together in the future. After the 12 months the volunteer will be able to set up and run a successful social enterprise based on the knowledge acquired during the project, thus he/she will be able to develop his/her local community, decreasing unemployment and waste production at the same time.
