Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Lebenshilfe Graz und Umgebung – Voitsberg is one of the biggest service providers for people with intellectual disabilities in this region. Lebenshilfe GUV assists people with disabilities throughout all stages of life to enable a normal, self-determined life in the society. Lebenshilfe Graz Voitsberg is committed to the goal of inclusion of people with disabilities into society.Inclusion means that all people in a community can participate in all aspects of life such as living, education, work, leisure time activities and live a self-determined life. Person centred planning as a tool to reach inclusion for people with disability was emphasised for all Lebenshilfe organisations by Lebenshilfe Österreich, who was a networking partner in the project "New Paths to Inclusion. The Lebenshilfe Graz und Umgebung Voitsberg is now on the way to implement the person centred work as a tool to reach inclusion for people with disability. In a 3 -year process person centred work should be implemented at all levels of the organisation in order to further contribute to inclusion using the instrument, and the methods of the person-centred work. The aim of the mobility project PZA in Europe is that qualified Employees of the Lebenshilfe GUV meet different solutions in European partner organizations in order to replace traditional assistance for people with disabilities by methods of the person-centred approach. The person centred approach is a challenge for organisations in the disability field as this strategy does not only bring changes in the life of persons or families, but also is a collaborative community effort. Person-centred work is not possible without a new design of support methods and a development of services in the work with people with intellectual disabilities. This new design should be based on the person's access to preferred environments, activities, organisations and persons using local resources. The European mobility will be a job shadowing of ten employees of Lebenshilfe GUV who have completed basic training in person centred work and also have leadership experience. In the mobility project PZA in Europe knowledge and practical expertise concerning PCW from service providers in the disability field will be transmitted from six different service providers in the disability field. These service providers are located in four European countries, Germany, Italy , UK and Spain.Within the mobility project the Europass Curriculum Vitae and the Europass Mobility will be provided. The process will be supported by the department of Research and Development of the Lebenshilfe GUV and will be analytically evaluated concerning learning outcomes and effects at the end of the project.Outcomes of the project are: - To generate experiences in different European countries, organizations and service providers in order to gain a wealth of possible applications for person centred work .- To find new practical understanding of the cooperation with families, relatives and friend s of people with intellectual disabilities and strategies to build up a connecting community. - To gain learning experiences in terms of organisational development as a consequence of the person centred approach.- The ultimate objective is to use the person centred approach as a concept of organizing help around a person to create a life that fulfils his/her visions. This approach should enable to create a life, based on social roles, inclusion and individual visions. The mobility project PZA in Europe is intended to enable with European know-how these process and make person centered work being a sustainable approach for organizations in the disability field.
