Young people in Nis, Serbia often lack information about opportunities for non-formal education and mobility, as well as the opportunity to spend their free time in a quality way, especially those coming from socially excluded groups. Opportunities for intercultural education are limited too. A chance to meet and spend time with the peer from EU country is quite rare.
Main objectives:
- To support and empower young people through access to information
- To foster intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding
- To provide opportunities for EVS service to young people from Nis
- To provide intercultural environment of learning both for young people in Nis and EVS volunteer
La “Asociación Juevnil Intercambia” from Spain and "Club for Youth Empowerment 018" (KOM 018) from Serbia are partnering on the project „Peer to Peer Info Corner” as the support of Spanish EVS volunteer for KOM 018 activities for youth on the local level in Nis. EVS placement will be a long term starting with 10/03/2015 and ending with 10/01/2016 (10 months).
Víctor will have a dynamic and interactive program and will be mainly involved in the organization of the activities in the info service of "KOM 018" obtaining and providing information to the beneficiaries such as educational, EVS and training opportunities. Beside that, volunteer will support the implementation of two "KOM 018" programs: Dance4Life program – Dance4Life program connects inspires and empowers young people through music and dance to take a step forward in the fight against HIV/AIDS; and Hate Fighters program - Hate Fighters program has a basic idea to educate young people about combat against hate speech online, what hate speech online is, to recognize and report it, ways to sanction it etc, through: peer education, legal aspect, art (comics, dance and photography) and online activism. What is important is that the program was created by young people, with the support of the experts, so the set of peer education workshops was developed as well as a song and choreography “Stop Hate Speech”, as well as comics and photos that promote combat against hate speech.
Beside that, volunteer will work closely with local youth in order to improve the quality of their free time; he will organize workshops on: EVS and Erasmus Plus program (presentations in local schools and faculties); Spanish culture and language; Intercultural and human rights education. Volunteer will give general support to the organization such as team meetings, administrative tasks, website update, logistics, etc.
The overall experience of EVS placement will provide volunteer with non-formal and informal learning throughout the whole service period.
