PANGEA – Volunteering for Connecting Continents was born from the awareness that even if we live in different countries we are, at the same time, connected each other and through volunteering actions this link could be strengthened developing the sense of being part of unique solidarity between continents. The volunteering actions will be focused on the themes of sustainable community development, intercultural dialogue and creative non-formal learning. Two groups of volunteers from France, Italy, Hungary and Spain will participate in community development projects in Senegal and Cameroon for 6 months and in Nepal for 5/7 months at a time and a volunteer from Senegal, Nepal, and Cameroon will be hosted by CESIE in Italy for 10 months. The sense of a group EVS will be emphasised by the volunteers in the different activities sharing training and evaluation moments. The project is based on the experience of the previous projects and works on consolidating the good practices developed in order to guarantee high quality volunteering initiatives between Europe and countries outside of Europe. The objectives focus on the personal and professional development of the volunteers, their role in promoting active participation and positive intercultural dialogue, the development of the local hosting communities, the creation of new YiA projects and new partnerships, and mutual capacity building of the hosting organisations. Activities will include collaborating with the local communities and local volunteers in non-formal education projects in local schools, developing awareness campaigns connected to nutrition and welfare, developing local, regional and international networking opportunities.
