We do not have strong apprenticeship traditions in Lithuania. Lithuania lacks the knowledge of organizing and implementing apprenticeship and lacks practical experience.
Vilniaus automechanikos ir verslo mokykla tries to develop apprenticeship implementation in possibilities in Lithuania. Apprenticeship experience from Austria, Germany and France will be compared and the main elements that have to be considered will be highlighted. Those elements can be taken as the example in implementing apprenticeship in Vilniaus automechanikos ir verslo mokykla.
Aims of initialized project for teachers/social partner specialists:
- To get acquainted with the principles of apprenticeship used in receiving institutions and business companies of Austria, Germany and France.
- Considering the experience of apprenticeship development in Austria, Germany and France, to evaluate the possibility of implementing apprenticeship in Vilniaus automechanikos ir verslo mokykla.
-To prepare recomendations for future development of apprenticeship inVilniaus automechanikos ir verslo mokykla.
Aims of initialized project for pupils:
-To get acquainted with principles of apprenticeship.
-To have possibility to practically try apprenticeship learning form in real work environment.
Project partners in Lithuania: Alytaus profesinio rengimo centras, UAB Rimtoma.
Project partners in foreign countries: Landesberufsschule Eggenburg (Austria), Rhein-Maas-Berufskolleg (Germany), GARAC (France)
Two project activities are planned.
1st activity - car mechanic pupils of final grade. 2 weeks vizits are planned in Austria, Germany and France. Participants will spend 2 days in school practical training workshops and the rest time in the company. Leading teachers will be together with pupils during the whole visits. 20 visit participants are planned.
2nd activity - practical training teachers, social partner specialists. 1 week vizit is planned in Austria, Germany and France. Participants will spend 2 days in school practical training workshops and the rest time in the company observing the work of specialists coordinating practical training based on apprenticeship in the companies .12 visit participants are planned.
Needs of project participants:
For pupils:
-To get acquainted with education systems of receiving countries
-To get acquainted with car mechanics programs in receiving institution
-To get acquainted with apprenticeship teaching model
-to get practical skills in practical training workshops of receiving institutions and business companies when activities are planned on principles of apprenticeship teaching form;
-To improve practical skills in using the newest technologies;
-To get acquainted with culture, way of life, customs and traditions of receiving countries;
For teachers:
- To get acquainted with requirements for car mechanics programs in receiving institutions;
- To get acquainted with apprenticeship teaching model in receiving institution;
- To compare advantages and disadvantages of apprenticeship teaching model development in partner countries
- To evaluate apprenticeship learning model development in Vilniaus automechanikos ir verslo mokykla.
- To take the best practices how cooperation between schools and business companies adds to the successful development of innovative teaching model.
-To get acquainted with culture, way of life, customs and traditions of receiving countries
-To develop partnership with the visited vocational training organizations, to discuss possibilities for future cooperation, to develop international cooperation.
For social partner representatives:
- To get acquainted with requirements for car mechanics programs in receiving institutions;
- To evaluate apprenticeship learning model development in UAB Rimtoma.
Project activities were discussed with receiving partners. Detailed program and visit dates will be fixed in September 2014. By that time receiving partners will know the time tables and personnel availability to assist in successful visit program implementation.
Project management will be done by Vilniaus automechanikos ir verslo mokykla.
Having implemented the project and having used the best practices identified during the project life time, recommendations for future implementation of apprenticeship in Vilniaus automechanikos ir verslo mokykla will be prepared. The prepared material about development of apprenticeship could then be used by other vocational training schools in Lithuania. This will influence the quality of provided teaching and will make it closer to European standard.
