Project Own your Culture will bring together 30 young people, 6 group leaders and 2 facilitators for 8 days in Snina. Young people will come from 6 different countries that are diverse in their cultures and have different experience and realities regarding the theme of the project.Main impulse for the project is the fact that young people living in this fast world are losing their relationship towards crafts and traditions. They are slowly disappearing from the awareness of youth and we are concerned that they will disappear totally as we, young people, are not as manually skilled as our parents or grandparents and we tend to overlook the traditions.Because of different factors such as:- Loss of national identity while becoming part of EU or globalization,- High divorce rate, where the main transferrer of traditions – family, is losing its value,- Loss of interest of youth about traditions and crafts,we decided that as youth we need to take initiative and prove the importance of preserving traditions and crafts. If we collect all of the problems and needs, we can conclude following objectives of the project:- Increase awareness of youth about crafts and traditions- Put emphasis on importance of traditions and their preservance- Young people will gain different craft and manual skills- Development of creativity of youth- Increase cultural sensitivity and tolerance- Highlight the specific nature and importance of traditional and folk culture as integral part of cultural heritage and live culture- Intercultural learning- Support active citizenship of youth in rural areas- Support international cooperations and building of future partnerships- Inform participants about opportunities that Erasmus+ program offers- Identify competencies that can be gained/developed and their certification by YouthpassPrimary impact will be on participants of the project, secondary on local community of youth in Snina and tertiary – with help of dissemination acitivies – on communities from which participants come from.
