The " Os Quatro Cantos do Cisne " is a non- governmental organisatio localized in the countryside of Portugal.Programmes and actvities take place throug the whole year and are focused on both target groups and the wide public. The emphasis in on the non-formal eduaction principles:Among constant activities there are the folowing projects:1- youth centres ( 220 childrens daily in our 5 centres);2- Kindergarden animation support ( 250 kids daily);3- specific programmes and activities for families dealing with economical and social problems;4- holidays camps;5- youth information workshops;6 -early intervention for kids from 0 to 3 years old ( support done by psicologist and speaking tecnhic);7- primary prevention drugs and sexula health campaign;8- annual music festival in Pereira;9 - environmental protection program for childrens and youth ( linked with our youth centres and kindergardens);10 - national cooperations with portuguese organisation in promotion of active citizenship and volunteering - pontual activities;11- International cooperation under YIA and LLP( grundtivg III);12-outdoors&sport activitiesFor local community and the young people of our region, the European Concept are not so clear and the opportunities and different points of view they can take from EVS experience. The organisation is situated in Santarém District, in Constância Municipal area. The reality of the local community are not to much contact with the differences and European awareness and since 2002 we are trying to develop such as an " opena lines" to give the opportunity for the local youths to contact with different cultures and habits, different languages and ways of life, as well as the local community that ares promoting for them to have this intercultural learning in our area through YIA Programme in general and EVS in particular.
