Uhtna Põhikool is situated in Sõmeru Parish in Lääne-Viru County. In school year 2015/2016, there are 83 pupils and 31 workers, 17 of them are teachers. The pupils are taught by National Curriculums. There are pupils with Asperger syndrom, autism etc diagnosis. The school has got experience in teaching new immigrants and pupils from Russian families.Last school year, the detailed and comprehensive curriculum development was done. A number of changes due to the school originality, the new learning conception and the pupils' outcome learning were distributed into the school's curriculum. The school management focuses on teaching and learning. One of the school's aim is to make a learning environment more exciting and various, and to support every child's development.The project's goals are:1) to change school's culture more stronger and integrated;2) to enhance quality management;3) to put the new learning conception more effectively into practice, and to provide every child's development;4) to enhance teaching and learning quality accoding to active learning methods;5) to share new knowledge and experience about teaching in a multicultural learning environment with the European colleagues;6) to experience and understand better different European cultures; to be informed about different educational systems in Europe;7) to make connections for different future projects;8) to improve foreign languages.There are three people who are involved in the project: a principal/teacher, a social worker and a music teacher. The persons form an active and cooperative group who are able using knowledge and experience attained in the course, to achieve the school's development and the project's goals. The training course is organized by English Matters. The study visit provides schools visits that have got specific high consepts to promote high quality in teaching and learning, experiencing a powerful and unique school culture, meeting and intercting with teachers, experts, headteachers and advisers, observing lessons and innovative and collaborative learning, network, forming eTwinning groups and discussing possible Key 2 actions. The study visit provides opportunities to work with a number of professors and experts from universities of Europe.The persons participating in the course achieve knowledge and experience that they can share with their colleagues in the school, in the parish or on the county level. They know how to teach pupils with problems and how to work in a multicultural learning environment. They can use different active learning methods and make efforts in the field of integration of different subjects. More English is going to be used, and more projects are going to be worked out. The school management focuses first of all on teaching and learning and taking account every child's personal development. The pupils' learning motivation rises and learning results are better. The school culture will be more stronger and united. The pupils, parents and school staff will be content with the school, and the school's goals of the development plan can be achieved.
