In order to meet the demands of educational developments in our school, will the teachers of Godby high school learn through the 1-1 method. In the very near future we will be working as teachers, with pupils who have their own digital devices( eg.iPads).Our school has, under a long period, strived to become a leading educational centre via the use of IT, with our goal to become the first 1-1 school on Åland. We have , this year, incorporated a "pilot" class who together with some enthusiastic teachers have used this as their educational method with the help of iPads. With positive results it has shown us the possibilities, but has also brought up new questions associated with methods, education and techniques. Our goal is to try to learn from other educational peers and experts within Europe by job shadowing in 1-1 schools and through various courses. Via this project we hope to be able to give back to our pupils the best education through tried and tested methods. We will also share and spread our new learned ideas to those who are interested via various electronic platforms such as , Fronter, eTwinning and other social media. We hope to also be able to share our new skills both within our district and to the rest of Åland as a whole. We are 18 subject teachers working within a secondary school who represent a wide curriculum. Levels of IT usage is varied within the project group, but, in this case will lead to a wider spectrum of resulting questions and needs that can be shared across the group. We intend to actively document the project through the various afore mentioned platforms, school web site and other relevant media. We hope to also hold seminars, workshops or lessons for those who are interested. The expected result of such a proposal is a functioning 1-1 teaching within which both teachers and pupils will be actively involved in searching , collecting and sharing knowledge. A safe, stimulating learning method leads to calmer classrooms and increases the pupils self belief within themselves. Our ambition is that individuality and motivation will be strengthened via this educational process. But at the same time the competence and motivation of our teaching staff as a team will also be stronger. The project will increase the teachers interest for future courses outside of their own usual organisations in a foreign language and will make them more active in discussions/work within their future communities. We hope that the result will be a modern , more dynamic , engaging professional atmosphere within our school. It will awaken the inter cultural possibilities of working together via new contacts within further European projects.
