Within the youth exchange project "ONCE UPON A TIME – IMAGINATION SOUP " was participating 29 young people at the age 16 - 30 years from different European countries: Latvia, Rumania, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey. During the project they will developed the selection of fairy tales as the methodical material for the acquisition of foreign languages and cultures.
The aim of the project was through the art activities create the selection of fairy tales in such way promoting the personal development of young people, their skills and abilities.
The aim of the project was achieved through the following objectives:
- to develop the culture and creativity;
- to promote the intercultural dialogue, social inclusion and solidarity;
- no ensure the youth exchange project and envolve in it the youth from Latvia and other European cultures;
- to promote the intercultural communication by acquiring diffgerent cultures in Europe;
- to create selection of fairy tales, which will be useful methodical material for acquisition of foreign languages;
- to acquaint the youth with the artistic and creative environment;
- to improve the competences and skills of young people (includint the youth with the fewer opportunities);
- to ensure the unity, education and development of the young people who are involved in the present project;
- to organise different activities, which are connected with the acceptance of different and common;
- to implement social work and ensure the activities of farewell party and organzie the public event successfully.
Within the project were used the following methods of non-formal education: brainstormings, interviews, individual, pairs, group and team group activities, icebreaking, team building activities, energizers, creative workshops, presentations, games, theatre performances, performaces and others. All used methods promoted the intercultural dialogue among the participants and youth mobility, but through the art activities the youth acquired the basics of different cultures and languages, ensured the development of youth skills and abilities as well as personal development. With the help of the used methods was achieved also the aim of the project.
During the project was created the selection of the national fairy tales "Once Upon a Time...", which contains the fairy tales translated into the languages of partner countries and into English. It could be used as methodical material for the acquisition of foreign languages. There is also the appendices with the dictionaries of words. The project participants had choosen the fairy tales, translated them into English and their own language, searched for the morality, designed and drew the illustrations and made an exhibition.
