On the road for safe sex
Start date: Feb 1, 2016, End date: Nov 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

At JOETZ we work around two fundamental topics: health and youth. As it is also very important for us to work around these topics at a European level, including European, and from partner countries neighboring the EU, volunteers in our organization seems an ideal opportunity. By this way we want to create a bilateral opportunity. On the one hand it gives us the opportunity to be in direct contact with someone from another country, to learn more about his country, customs, way of working, etc and to get a more broaden vision about health and youth. On the other hand it gives the opportunity to European, and from partners countries neighboring the EU, volunteers to live an experience abroad, to get to know more about another country, to see how our organization is working, to work on health and youth projects and so to learn more through the Erasmus+ Program and go forward. Both volunteer and Belgian youngsters will have the opportunity to know more about European, and partner countries neighboring the EU, customs and ways of living. By being on festivals and other actions together it will foster the mutual understanding between different countries. But it will also develop solidarity and promote tolerance amongst them. Especially working around these important health issues that are tackled on a different way depending on each country. This project focuses mainly on health prevention for young people, but also offers the possibility for the volunteer to participate in (or help develop) other international activities and projects. The health prevention in this project focuses on safe sex and prevention of diseases related to sexual intercourse, targeting on young people. This project is about health information, promotion and prevention. The host organisation, JOETZ, works around different topics, safe sex, health, international exchanges, holidays, inclusion. We are organizing different events and projects (condotour, super papa day, EVS-projects, eurocrack,…) around these topics throughout the whole year. Our main objective is to implicate the volunteer in all the different activities we are organizing so that she gets a general view of what we are doing in our organization and maybe get the idea and willingness to introduce some of our practices in her countries to enlarge the health and youth sector. More specifically the emphasis in the project will be put on promoting “safe sex” and this by being present on big events like festivals and other activities organized by us. Through this we are also aiming to put the volunteer in contact with other volunteers so that an European vision and exchange can be created. The volunteer, Ersa from Albania, has already some knowledge and experience about voluntary work and is really interested into health and health issues. At JOETZ she will have the opportunity, through the “On the Road for Safe Sex” project, to enlarge her knowledge and experience during a period of 6months. During the first months she will prepare the summer condotour and participate to other national and international projects of JOETZ. She will have the opportunity to share and develop her ideas and abilities, to take initiatives and to take part to the intern work process of JOETZ. Then during the summer months she will participate to the condotour, where she will distribute condoms and give information about safe sex.
