Ports of Finland and Estonia play important role in the Russian transit traffic; Finnish harbours are specialized in consumer goods imports (containers), while Estonia serves as a raw material export harbour (oil). Although Russia has enlarged its capacity in both of these markets (harbours, warehousing and transportation), Finland and Estonia still have important role in Russian material flows. This activity has resulted in employment opportunities and in profitable business. However, in order that current competitive advantange would sustain, should these two countries share good practices with each other, and medium as well as long term infrastructural needs need to be mapped through logistics chain perspective. This latter task is intended to be completed through computer simulation, where is being compared what kind of infrastructural needs different growth scenarious require.
