The theme of this project is nature and environment, respecting it and the opportunities it presents to support of our own well-being. The theme of this project was decided by the young people who participated in our Youth Exchange in Malta last year. The new project will also be done as a Youth Exchange in Espoo, Finland this time. The theme of our previous joint project was tolerance and the continuance of that theme was also seen important. We want to support the integration of the underaged who have entered our country alone by providing them with a full-day nature experience.The mission of this project is to introduce the young to the nature and the opportunities it provides as a supporter of well-being and to get familiar with the themes of sustainable development and understanding towards the ones in a weaker position. The objectives and themes are processed with different operational and non-formal learning methods that the young people have planned and directed themselves during the exchange. These methods are for example experience activities, interviews, operational nature trekking, sports activities in nature and different types of group assignments. The young people also get to design and excecute a day of nature experiencesfor asylum seekers. The young people will be in charge of the program for the day with the support of the youth workers. After the project every youngster can promote the respect of the surrounding nature as well as utilize it to integrate asylum seekers to a new society. During the exchange we use many different social media platforms to spread the information and skills that we have learned.32 young people participated along with 6 instructors. The ages of the youngsters varied between 14 and 18. The Youth Exchange is scheduled for August 2016. In June we will hold a planning meeting (APV) where we will offer the opportunity for one young person and one youth worker from each country to participate.The project promotes international co-operation together with the opportunities it provides in Youth Work.
