Teachers of foreign languages are aware of the scope of offered innovative educational tools that include e-books, mobile devices applications, online tests and Internet platforms with online exercises and teaching materials. Observing extracurricular workload of students, there occurs the need to apply these technological tools at school, so that the students should be more enthusiastic about learning and self-development while using tools that are familiar not only to them but also to their teachers. The goal of the project is to offer training to teachers of foreign languages in the sphere of applying modern technologies in language teaching. Teacher development towards effective work and involvement of students in the process of learning is also expected. Students are supposed to assume the role of active participants and co-creators of teaching materials. Internet is going to constitute the platform of cooperation between teachers and students. The needs of teachers' development are related to motivating students towards learning foreign languages and achievement of high quality of educational work through implementation of innovative teaching methods. Considering this, we feel the need to improve the knowledge of hi-technology tools useful in teaching of foreign languages. Our students expect interesting forms of running classes and therefore we need to improve qualifications in the sphere of methodology, implement innovative methods and apply high-technology in everyday teaching practice. Our school has been developing technological infrastructure and we are interested in providing a wider educational offer supported by modern educational tools. In contemporary reality it is necessary to adjust professional qualifications of teachers to new demands of educational market. We are motivated to develop skills in the field of teaching and methodology with special emphasis put on new techniques and modern technologies. Using multimedia and Internet in classes is a key element motivating and developing interest in foreign languages so we would like to improve the skills in the sphere of application of information technology in the lessons.
The project assumes participation of 6 foreign language teachers in trainings aiming at effective effective use of new technology in teaching languages. The project will involve teachers of English, German and Spanish. Most teachers realise that we face reality in which Internet and the world of high technology is a natural environment for students. It is obvious that information and communication technologies let achieve better results in teaching and make students more involved in educational process so if teachers wish to feel confident as animators of the learning process, they have to develop their skills and stimulate their creativity to combine the latest technological innovations with traditional methods. Project participants will take part in trainings focussing on applying new technologies in school practice. While implementing the project we are going to apply available tools that we already know: etwinning platform, skype and exchange of information on teachers' forums. We hope the project will help us equip the beneficiaries with skills that are fundamental for the teacher of the 21st century. Thanks to application of new technology in our future work, students' motivation and engagement in learning process shall increase. The students will be able to apply these tools in their further education and they will become the co-creators of educational materials implemented in our everyday work. Certainly, this will contribute to establishment of the image of European school that offers teaching methods of the 21st century. At the same time, the interest in educational offer of our school thus will grow among its prospective candidates.
