„New horizons of non-formal education” is a project made by the teachers from Niepubliczne Gimnazjum św. św. Cyryla i Metodego in Białystok, Poland in the frames of Erasmus+ programme ( action KA1 ) The main goals of the project are: acquiring new tools, methods of teaching and practical skills in the field of non-formal education and educational coaching to increase the motivation for work of both teachers and students. The enhancement of quality of teaching and position of our school at the educational market, sustainability of international cooperation with European schools and dissemination of acquired knowledge and good practices. Six teachers will take part in this project, they teach: English, Polish, Russian, Belarusian, Maths and ICT. They will attend two courses offered by DOMINOU Association. In November 2016 three teachers will go to Malta on a nine day course „Spice up formal education”. During that course some of the things they will find out include: intercultural games, team building, adapting communication to the age group, non-verbal communication in the work environment and in the classroom. In March 2017 three teachers will travel to Romania for a nine day course „Vitamin C Boost Education”, which will help them to broaden their knowledge in the field of non-formal and formal methods of teaching, coaching models, and using coaching as an educational tool, as well as goal setting techniques and methods useful in motivating the students. Most of the courses’ educational approaches are inspired from constructivist pedagogy. The projects have a holistic approach and use various tools during the different activities.At the end of the project the participants will enrich their professional competences in the field of non-formal teaching methods and coaching skills , which used in their day to day work will help to motivate students more. They will be able to use new , innovative methods on a daily basis which will increase their own motivation and self-confidence. The participants will also develop their personal, intercultural and language skills, which will have a positive effect on their confidence at work and future activities connected to international projects. Sharing the gained knowledge not only with co-workers , but also with the teachers form our town will result in dissemination on a bigger scale and increase in interest in new teaching methods, gaining new contacts and spreading the information about opportunities for education and personal growth given by Erasmus+. The project will also have a big impact on the school, which will sustain the cooperation with European institutions, which will strengthen its position among European schools and will result in taking part in new European projects in the future. The enhancement in motivation, professional skills and awareness of the teachers will result in better behaviour, motivation and educational results of the students. Teachers’ involvement in the project and their effort in responding to the students’ needs will also make parents more content and eager to work with school and give it their support.
