This project contributes to further development of the educational discourse between Czech and German educators working in non-formal educational organizations of Education for Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights Education (EDC/HRE). It will, in particular, focus on common exploration of strategies, concepts and educational tools of citizenship education of young people in relation to the European discussion on Migration, Refugees ad Asylum, thus the cooperation works on a core topic which is of overarching European importance.The project focuses on the bilateral exchange of educational professionals from NGOs active in the field of non formal Human Rights and Democratic Citizenship Education (EDC/HRE) with young people in the Czech Republic and Germany. As of 2015 the public debate around refugees, asylum and migration in both countries has entered a new level as it turned from the sphere of abstract political issues to the very concrete reality of refugees and migrants in Europe. The choice of the topic is related to the growing need from the side of educators in both countries to approach the questions of inclusion and integration of refugees and migrants in the society on one side, and the topics related to xenophobia, racism, extremism and discrimination on the other side. The project therefore can be seen in terms of experiencing Europe's current core questions in the German-Czech context.The project, which will include a series of 3 workshops, accompanied by online learning modules, will address the following issues:• reflection on educational strategies that manage to build a positive and constructive vision of living together in Europe. • involvement of young people in the debate on the future of democratic Europe in relation to the European discussion on Migration, Refugees ad Asylum and the application of Fundamental Rights in Europe. • pedagogical discourse on core educational themes of learning citizenship in European democracies, such as migration, inclusion and exclusion of young people, discrimination, racism, xenophobia, interculturality, extremism...............The participants (20 in total) will come from the field of educational NGOs working with non-formal citizenship and human rights education for young people. The call of proposals will be open, in particular, to pedagogues and educational experts, who work in educational NGOs and devote their work to questions of involvement and participation of youth in our societies, to intercultrual learning, anti-discrimination, anti-racism, hate-free speech. During the workshops, we will use a variety of methodical approaches for deepening the dialogue: online brainstorming, future labs, site visits, group discussions, debates with resource persons in Germany and the Czech Republic, involving policy making level and research.As the topic of the project "Not in our Countries? Refugees, Asylum and Fundamental Rights Education in Youth work" deals explicitly with questions related to Citizenship of young people in Europe an increase of competences in this field is expected. First of all the workshops will deepen the knowledge of participants regards to the theoretical and practical foundations of the debates related to the treatment of refugees and migrants in Europe (Geneva convention, Dublin principles, asylum law and its application in both states, immigration policies) and arising questions for youth work and education. Secondly, it will enhance the participants pedagogical skills by mutually learning from youth educational practice in the field. Thirdly, the process of the workshops can create positive results in regards to attitudes and behavior towards youth educational work on the refugee, migration and citizenship topics. The broadening and mutual deepening of the educational debate will raise the profile and competences of the participants as well of their organizations. It further will result in new partnerships and exchanges that will address questions of youth participation in both countries and increase the number of young people who will come into a debate on the above topics.
