The project "The disabled but able-bodied at school - equaling education opportunities" aims at comparing the Italian education system of disabled students with the model of education and pedagogical work with special education needs students in our school and transferring good practices from schools in Italy to our school . The project includes the training trip to Rimini, Italy, of seven teachers employed in the school Zespół Szkół im. ks. St. Staszica in Tarnobrzeg. The participants are teachers of various subjects and at different stages of professional career. They were chosen in a sellection process from the whole teaching staff due to their exceptional commitment to introducing innovations concerning the full inclusion of special needs students in the school life and encompassing them with appropriate care. Thanks to visits in Italian schools, they will extend their knowledge about the Italian system of education in reference to disabled students, methods of working with them, adjusting the school facilities to individual needs of disabled students and innovative teaching methods and projects applied by Italian schools. The project will allow the teachers to acquaint with the organization and managment of schools that cater equally for the education needs of various students. In particular, the teachers will enrich their knowledge about innovative techniques and methods of work and therapy in reference to educating students with special education needs and development deficits. The project assumes lesson observations by the teachers, which will allow them to increase their psychological, pedagogical and revalidation competences. It will also contribute to exchanging experiences concerning the diagnosis and methodology of work between the participants and Italian educators. Moreover, the project includes meetings with the managing staff in Italian schools, which will allow the teachers to acquire knowledge about the organization and functioning of schools in Italy. The project meets the needs of the teachers who would like to broaden their knowledge and skills in order to assist disabled students and help them to function in the comprehensive school equally with able-bodied students. The vital result of the project will be increasing the quality of working with students with particular education needs, more attractive teaching methods and more effective process of revalidation and support in the school. Extending the teachers' knowledge and acquiring new skills will enable more extensive stimulation of disabled students' development.
