Ergastririako Kentro Kastorias (E.K. Kastorias) implemented an Erasmus+ project entitled "New skills acquisition for VET Students" for a training period of two (2) years, having the following objectives for our students and school:
--to acquire contemporary knowledge and practice skills and enhance the qualifications of the participating students,
--to reduce early school leaving in our area,
--to strengthen knowledge and skills of our students on their sectors,
--to get to know the culture of another country, and to acquire language skills ,
--to be motivated in order to be more consistent in their school obligations.
--to become responsible, independent and hardworking,
-- to obtain a European conscience
The above objectives were achieved, and they also constitute the results of our Project.
The participants of the project were 36 students of both EPAL (EPAL Argos Orestikou and EPAL Kastorias) divided into three flows of 12 students each.
We selected three host organizations: the Associazione A Rocca in Sicily, ERIFO in Rome and Waterpolis in Lisbon, with great experience in implementing mobility programs.
E.K. Kastorias for the successful implementation of the project arranged communication and collaboration with the host organizations, defining the objectives and content of the program, informed participants and parents, organized the travelling, accommodation, sustenance, language and cultural preparation, insurance, preparation of participants, monitoring of participants and host organization, financial management, evaluating and preparing the final report, organizing activities for the dissemination of results.
Host organisations undertook the design of the working and training plan for the participants in cooperation with our organization, the principles as laid down in the MoU, the organization of placements in companies for each participant according to his profile, to evaluate the students, mentoring and supervision-teaching-assessment of students, the final certification and background reports, dissemination of the final results of the project.
As for the long-term benefits these are:
to give the participants students the ability to support and help local businesses,
that will enable them to cope with today's competitive work environment and will help to facilitate job placement.
our graduates to be able to cope with the demanding modern labor market,
to make E.K. Kastorias and the Vocational Education more attractive to young students,
to raise the prestige of the organization and our graduates,
the reduction of early school leaving
to encourage other schools applying for Erasmus+ projects.
