During November 2016 KEAN will host an international Youth Exchange in Athens, with the aim of training and stimulating young people about the topic of migration and integration. The project “New Paths of MInteGRATION” has been conceived in a period in which migration toward Europe is a crucial issue and maybe is one of the biggest challenges at present time. The future of E.U., founded on human rights protection and integration among people, is closely related to the way the Union will face the issue.We decided to have in total 30 participants from 5 different countries (Greece, Italy, Spain, Bulgaria, Turkey) that have been lately facing huge immigration flows. Each partner organization will chose 5 participants between the ages of 18 and 30 and 1 group leader with no upper age limit. The aim of this project is to trigger a discussion about the topic of integration, through both seminars, laboratories, group works and moments of real meeting and sharing among participants and between participants and migrants. Through non-formal and experiential education, the final hope is to stimulate young people to knowingly confront ideas, generate new concepts and suggest avenues to be explored about new integration models and policies. Thus the desire impact is on the one hand to stimulate a reflection on how countries can cooperate on international levels and on the other hand to drawn on different but shared ideas and good practices to be hopefully implemented in local contexts and spread among people. Participants will be encouraged and stimulated to reflect on their own experience as well, learn from colleagues and return home with fresh contacts and renewed confidence and competence. A solid network of new partners and youth workers will be created or enhanced making a long-term impact. Hence values of integration and inclusion will be in this way disseminated in order to contribute to a concerted shift of mentality and perception of needs, problems and opportunities.
