New Methods and Technologies for New Skills for Jobs

SETUGS “Mihajlo Pupin” – Skopje hopes to give its students a more qualitative higher education, hence enabling them to gain knew knowledge of modern technologies and new experiences the vocational field. This will result in better and more opportunities in the labor market, bigger chances for employment or starting up their own companies. We aim towards establishing a collaboration between future employees, employers and the educational process. This is only possible through communication with other vocational schools and companies, both in the country and abroad. By this we would also increase the international integration of both our school, and by that, also, its students.
The most important goals of this project are:
- Introducing the process of working in a foreign environment
- Comparison between working home and abroad
- Improvement of the employment opportunities for the students
- Improvement of the foreign language skills
- Development of intercultural competencies
- Exchange of knowledge, experience and work procedures
- Presentation of the experience to a numerous target groups (youth, employers, teachers, parents, wider interested public)
- Improvement of the quality of the educational process in the school
- Enhancement of the attractiveness of the vocational education and training
Two groups of 7 carefully selected teachers each will be involved in this project. The duration of their mobility will be 7 days, whereas their training will last 30 hours. During this time, they will be focusing on the following issues and activities:
- Introduction to the differences between classical and intelligent installations
- Description of the elements of intelligent installations, their operating methods and installation process
- Presentation of their operating methods
- Programming of KNX systems with the ETS4 program
- The process of constructing the application for managing the elements of these installations
- Visits to a commerce related to the work with intelligent installations
- Visits to Ljubljana and Gorenjska
Two groups of 15 students and 2 accompanying teachers (mentors) each will also be partaking in this project. These participants will also be carefully selected based on previously determined criteria. The students will be in the 3rd or 4th year of their educational process, representing different vocational areas included in our school’s educational program. For them, the mobility will last 14 days, during which they will participate in the following activities:
- Introduction to the basics of PLC and microcontrollers
- Practical work, aided by the mentors and accompanying teachers
- Visits to a commerce whose work is related to electro-technics
- Visits to Ljubljana and Gorenjska
As a result of this project, the teacher participants will be introduced to variety of new technologies, their methods of work, their usage and significance, in terms of electrical energy savings, as well as the best ways to transfer the gained knowledge to others. They will also learn about Slovenia’s culture, history and geography. The students will experience working in a new, different environment, will meet youth their own age from their own vocational field who lives and studies in a foreign country, they will be get to know their customs, way of life, culture and language. They will also be introduced to new technologies, different than the ones they’ve studied and worked with in their own school.
The participants’ language skills, as well as day to day and professional communication skills, will be lifted to a higher level. This will, in the long run, ease their way both through the vocational work field and through the work with new technologies or different methods of research.
The students will also be able to compare, for themselves, their knowledge and their skills to those of the students their own age in another country.
The gained skills that we believe our students will especially benefit from are:

- Awareness of the importance of lifelong learning
The most important general long term benefits of this project are:
- More knowledgeable and skillful students and more informed and prepared teachers, as a result of the experiences gained from this project, both directly and indirectly
- Raise of the interest in the electro-technical and technical education
- Increase of the cultural, professional and international experience of the participants and the school
- New ideas and ways of collaboration, with the same or a different partner from the vocational field
- Significantly easier employment process for the students, and, hence, decrease of the unemployment rate
