NEW HORIZONS
Start date: Aug 1, 2016, End date: Jan 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

Project NEW HORIZONS brings European voluntary service into three new hosting organisations in Brno. This project will allow 4 young people from France, Hungary, Portugal and Slovakia to spend 12 months from 1.10.2016 to 30.9.2017 in Czech Republic in organisations of Museum of Romani Culture, Rezekvitek and Lipka - school facility for environmental education. Volunteers from France and Slovakia at Lipka will work as assistants of pedagogues in both preparation and realization of educational activities and also will take part in creation, care for and improving of educational natural gardens. They will get known with management and practical daily work of the organization. Hungarian volunteer at Museum of Romani culture will help employees with regular activities of the running of museum and mainly with educational activities. He will help with promotion (creation of posters for events, update web pages, Facebook), assist in cultural events (taking photographs, instalation of exhibitions etc.). Portuguese volunteer at Rezekvitek will do natural conservation activities in areas of protected nature and as well he will work in the field of environmental education, both for children and public. All volunteers will be encouraged to implement their ideas and organize their own activities.Throughout its service volunteers will develop their sense of initiative, communication skills and entrepreneurial attitudes.SVČ Lužánky as the coordinating organization will support the learning process, working together to increase the visibility and dissemination of project results and experiences in order to create new partnerships and related activities. The project includes three newly accredited host organizations with which we are linked by personal ties. Environment of the organizations is yet open to volunteers who will be on the EVS in Lužánky as well as the public - there is space for the implementation of other activities or presentation of new projects. Volunteers will learn about the specific cultures - whether it's Romani culture and community or community of environmentaly-wised workers and sympathizers around Rezekvitek and Lipka. They will have the opportunity to be at the origins and development of new projects and initiate their own activities. We believe that the contact of (not only) young people with volunteers from abroad is broadening their horizons, strengthening the sense of belonging to European community, leading to intercultural understanding and contributing to the elimination of racism and xenophobia in the local community. In the meantime the presence of a young person from abroad is an example of mobility as a natural part of EU policy. The project NEW HORIZONS will give four volunteers opportunities for personal development and the acquisition of practical skills that will improve their chances in the labor market and the potential of their own initiative.
