This project has the main objective to define the Study for common cross border development of small scale horticultural and agricultural farming in order to provide tool for the local to acheve additional income and self-employment. The entire territory of the border region covered by this program should be include in the project, but survey will define exact locations of activity. The project will be implemented through several activities of which the most importand is the Study and also e-platform development. The Study will consist three components such as horticulture research, agro-economics and rural development and Institut and KEFO will be jointly engaged in its development. Parallel with the Study development the two model farms will be built on both sides of the border, each consists of 200 m² of unheated plastic greenhouses and of 300m² of outdoor areas. Model farms would be the basis for the Study but also a place the target group (local farmers) can visit through organized tours and workshops (at 5 seminars on both side of the border) during the project but also on their own, to see "on the spot" real results of this way of organizing production. In this way model farms would be a way of dissemination of results. The project will provide, throuh the e-platform, continuous communication between experts and local people, enabling them to define the best portfolio, processing data from model farms research, review best practices, establishing relationships among themselves and also with potential customers. Achievements: This project’s main objective was to produce a study about the joint cross-border development of small-scale horticultural and agricultural farming that would define and map the areas in which local people could find opportunities for self-employment and additional income. The entire territory of the border region covered by the programme might be the target group of the project, but the exact locations of the activities were defined according to the findings of a survey. The project was implemented through several activities, the most important of which were the study and the development of the e-platform. The study consists of three components - research regarding horticulture, agro-economics and rural development. The project partners were jointly involved in its development. Together with the study, two model farms on both sides of the border were developed, each equipped with unheated plastic greenhouses covering a surface area of 200 m2, and an outdoor area of 300 m2. Model farms formed the basis of the Study, but they also served as experimental locations. In order to see the real results of organising farm production in this manner, the local farmers were able to participate in organised study visits and workshops either during the 5 seminars held on both sides of the border or on their own. The model farms also aided the dissemination of the results and project promotion. Through the e-platform, the project partnership provided the channel of continuous communication between experts and local people, enabling them to defne the best portfolio, process data from model farms, review best practices and initiate and maintain contact with potential customers.
